What drives you?

What drives you?

It’s funny how we live from day to day making so much long term plans but never really looking at what we have to do right now to maintain the pace to get to those goals. We want to be successful but not willing to make sacrifices to be the best and maintain that title.

No worthwhile cause has ever had an easy path otherwise the word “martyr” would not exist at all. There are a myriad of those in our illustrious history of mankind Mahatma Ghandi, Martin Luther, King Jr. and our very own Nelson Mandela. The common factor between these great figures is not that they had to suffer endless ridicule, torment, threats and saboteurs in their own trusted circles at times. It is in fact the nagging thought that they can just give up and things will be much better for them.
Within all of us we have this same battle that rages on, one part wants so much more than we have at that particular point in our life and is willing to walk the mile to get to it and the other will be content with whatever little it gets each time. It is only our own determination and grit that gives us that little extra to turn ordinary to extraordinary instantly. The same ability that gives a mother superhuman strength to save her child from an impending painful situation or the guts an athlete displays to go that little bit faster and push that much harder to obtain that which was said to be impossible before.
We all have these same traits yet some of us are not willing to tap in to this desire for success too afraid to want more and do more, thinking that society doesn’t appreciate people with desire.
Society has long adorned those with this level of desire with praises and admiration knowing that the few ones that strive for more and gain more are willing to do whatever it takes to follow their dreams.  One phrase that opitimizes what I am talking about was said by Sir Richard Branson:“You don’t learn to walk by following rules. You learn by doing, and by falling over.”
Once you have fallen you gain new perspective and the path downward you will see where you need to go to get back on top or move further than you have ever been before. Adversity will be your hurdle that you can sail over and find out what your spirit is truly made of in order to gain that which you want the most.
Start today and dare to dream and dream in order to dare more. Once you stop dreaming you have stopped living and living is something that needs to be done daily. Consider yourself a champion as you have survived long enough to enjoy a healthy mind and healthy body (in some cases).
Never settle because you cannot gain ground when standing still.

Perils of a beautiful mind

It was once believed that not all people possess the mental capacity to do something extraordinary. I fear that it is this particular statement which was not made by the common man but rather the intellectuals that believe a study of 10 people will represent the views of millions. So too do we misrepresent others when we judge them without the facts, do we then not open ourselves up to ridicule of others by being so narrow minded in our approach as well?
Some things do require a bit of consideration before one utters your opinions loudly to the world. Take for instance the looks and remarks people pass when they walk past others on the street not knowing their circumstances but readily judging them on their own. What would it take for you to be considerate and think for just a second what could cause another human being to end up in such an undesirable situation.
One bad decision in your work\social circumstances could also possibly have you end up on the other side of the judgement which you are freely handing out to others like a lucky packet to a child. Consideration won’t cost you a cent but it will gain you a more understanding spirit to which people will feel more comfortable in asking for your advice or even just a shoulder to lean on.
It’s time we realize that the world does not just revolve around our own personal needs and wants but rather on a collective realization that we are a global community and we should treat each other as brothers and sisters sharing the same life space.
At times we just need to take a look back and realize that someone has seen exactly the way forward and has given you a kind word or their support without wanting anything in return, but simply to see you be in a better space as a person.
We find it easy to be negative towards each other but it was never in our nature when we are born, because as a child all you could see was the beauty and the simplicity in life and we lost that ability somewhere in between trying to make the world love us more. Just note this that when you are a child it is this innocence and positivity which made people see you as such a beautiful individual. Positivity at that age made the world love you more so why do we expect the world to love us the same when we have become negative.
Shift your mindset and you will shift your universe not the other way round because although you change your house you will still be the same person in a different house that’s all.
Don’t be afraid to live, laugh and love more because you will lose nothing but gain so much.

We all matter

The word '"matter" is a very complex and yet easy to understand word. Wikipedia describes: "there is no single agreed scientific meaning of the word "matter". It hits the nail right on the head if you ask me because we tend to think that different things matter to different people and they are absolutely right in that regard

For my own purposes I think that one's words are an expression of one's true self yet others have a firm belief that talk is cheap. I say that it has importance depending on the person it is coming from and the person receiving the message. This is a universal understanding of most things and speak volumes to each individuals needs and wants and dictates what really matters to them.

Who is to say that the middle aged man who thinks that his money should do all the talking is not accurate in his thinking because the object of his crisis is to be once again adored by the opposite sex. There is method to this madness because like we see on a daily basis that to people who do not have it money matters the most and that is the angle and allure which they tend to use as well.

Well now that we have a basis on where I am heading with what matters I can safely say that we all do matter and the things we think does not affect people negatively, it surely does. So I have realized every time I do something which I do not think is earth shattering but yet it disappoints someone so heavily that I can't bear to see the hurt in their eyes. Same goes for others who do something wrong in your eyes. When someone says or does something wrong, do not just think that they are being malicious and intentionally hurtful towards you. They might not know just how much what they are saying is impacting you negatively. Before you decide someone is your enemy, give them time to be your friend first. You might be surprised if you actually spoke to the person and explained how you felt, they could become aware and you could gain a friendship out of your willingness to share your feelings.

The most meaningful relationships we share as people come from the most unlikely of places. The things that matters to us most are the things we have shared with each other, whether its a memory, trinket or just an old bag  that has been with you everywhere we go. We should realize that people are just as precious and that every individual you come across matters, they might have had a good or bad impact but the impact they have made is one that will stay with you a lifetime.

Go out there and make yourself matter

Summer of life

Today is a beautiful day unlike any other we have been blessed with before. The reason why I am sounding so lyrical is that I have actually discovered the personal key to happiness. Embrace each day like you were never intended to receive it in the first place.

We are such social and outgoing creatures that we tend to live our lives by the minute and not by the moments that make it all worthwhile. We are so on edge as we are made to believe that we either don't have enough time to do the things we are meant to do and we think that tomorrow is a given. We are so mistaken to think we are guaranteed a tomorrow and that we will live a full and happy lifetime, as all things in life you have to work hard to be happy and you are not guaranteed a tomorrow. I have seen some lives being cut short before they have had the time to make amends with their pasts and with the struggles they have had in their lives.

I will approach each day like the gift it is and appreciate the love I receive from each and everyone that has impacted in my life, whether the impact is small or massive. To show love and to give love for each time we  are blessed by some kind word or even some harsh ones that just motivate you to move on or to choose a different path for our lives. I believe that whatever impact that I will have today is either one that will  improve someones life or change it irreparably.  So to take for granted the interactions you have with people is to approach relationships as a bumbling fool who just stumbles through life on nothing but good looks and a lot of good intentions. Lets take a step into being more thoughtful and have a clear definition into what you want people to think when you leave the room.

Someone that can inspire millions had to start with one and grow their skill and confidence gradually and the only reason they have that kind of reach is because they consciously choose what they want people to think. So I will maintain that my today is a gift and that I will share the gift I have with the world hoping it will help someone in some way in realizing that they too have a valuable contribution to make to someones life today.

Why do we always look down and complain that you don't get paid enough, your car isn't fast enough and your house isn't big enough. Rather say I am in the Summer of my life and I will enjoy each day as my last because tomorrow is not promised today

Contradiction

I find myself often contradicting what I feel and what I say. I say that I hate my job yet I relish in the freedom it gives me all the time. Sometimes all we do and say doesn't coincide with anything we do or say but yet we expect people to understand us and accept us the way we are yet we don't even know how to.

We all have a little identity crisis at least once a week, where you will question even if it is just for a split second if this is really what you are supposed to be doing with your life and with your precious little time. I say to hell with it all because it ends up being propaganda in any case. I say I don't care about the politics in our country yet I cant help but be captivated by the playground tactics being used by high powered officials.

I say I am not influenced by religion anymore yet my entire life, friends, mannerisms and life is this way because of my deep involvement with my religion. So we all have contradictions and contradictions normally represent a lie. All lies start out as someone else's truth, a tall tale we weave because we have heard the scenario before from someone else and just spun the truth to fit our lives. So if all lies lies are based on some measure of the truth then maybe my life and the contradictions it holds do represent a deeper truth and maybe I am the person I am now to just kill a little time till the real me shows it's glorious head.

If you think you are not where you are supposed to be then ask yourself how did you get to the point of realizing you went off course? We cannot know the good without the bad and we have to get lost before we find out where we are supposed to be. I will not pretend like I am a smart ass that has all the answers neither will I be ignorant to my own intelligence, I will try and be a contradiction of note to each category of my personality.

My life is my contradiction and I challenge you to see your own and embrace it.

Simply missing

I hate it when I am proven wrong by someone or something that wasn't even trying to prove me wrong in the first place. We as individuals all have our own way of thinking and the way we do things is unique to each and everyone of us.

So who is to say what is wrong or right these days its just a personal perception at the end of the day that changes from person to person. I have proven this over and over to the people that personally know me I have always asked them the question " What is normal?" much to the dismay of the receiver of this question I will always second guess their answer simply to make them feel unsure. I know that normality and perception is something that is singular to each individual the same way that a personality is as well. We try to be an original all of us but in doing so we just end up more and more carbon copies of our peers and also to some peoples dismay, their parents as well.

Getting to my point that I started out with initially I was once again proven wrong without having an argument and this time the argument was that I could survive on my own. I have always prided myself in being as independent as they come, not needing people and always creating shallow friendships with people so that I could walk away at the drop of a hat. One person came and changed my way of thinking and showed me that even if you are set in your ways, there will be one that will turn it all upside down.

She came as a surprise to me the day we first met, I was under the impression that she was just a pretty woman with only business on her mind. Her honesty showed me something I had missed in the world and that was the sincerity in which she spoke and handled other people. She had pride in what she did and how she carried herself in each situation, even when she was crapping me out. I fell hard for her feisty nature and although there were times when I felt like giving up and walking away she was the one who told me that walking away is not the right thing to do but rather to face challenges head on.

She drives me mad in all the bad ways and in all the good ways as well. She showed me that to miss someone is to give them all your time even if they aren't with you. I thought I did not have the capacity to yearn for someone when they are far away and not in your ever revolving day, but today I realize she is simply just missing.

Although she is far away from me now. She wont be for long, my heart is with her right where it belongs.

A Hand in Poetry

The quiet

the quiet I used to have on the the inside of me is just completely gone
I no longer walk around with a a smile on my lips and a boundless song
Is this the effect of what life's hardships does to a person
All we are faced with in the end is a life filled with sadness and desertion

All this misery and gloom is not the pinnacle of our lives
We should want more from ourselves than just a means to survive
We are dynamic and we are bold beyond anyone's measure
When you were born you were your parents little treasure

Its time to take back the peace that was in your heart before you grew up
This is the times that any man can create his very own luck
Toiling and sweating to please another instead of yourself is a fools errand
I will make sure that my life's successes will be inherent

How sweet it will be to slow down and enjoy a life filled with success and peace
To love life and live a life that is what I require at the least
The humdrum approach of working till I am put out to pasture
That's not for me I wanna fill the rest of my days with joyous laughter

Sitting with what little hair I might have left just waiving in the wind
I wanna sit silent and smiling because I lived my life like a king
The quiet I want in me is one that represents a state of contentment
The last thing anyone would want is a life full of resentment

All I want is my quiet and to take my sweet time
For now what I will take is my peace of mind
